ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRINGES…

YES, WE KNOW. IT HAS INDEED BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE ANYTHING FRESH WAS POSTED HERE. AND SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN QUICK TO LET US KNOW (WE KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE, BILLY…)

TRUTH TO TELL HOWEVER, IS THAT THERE HAS BEEN S.F.A.TO REPORT, UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE LATEST ON OUR ANNUAL ORGANISATIONAL TEARING OUR HAIR OUT, THOUGH BETWEEN OURSELVES, PEDIE, THROUGH TEN YEARS OF FESTIVAL ORGANISING, HAS VERY LITTLE LEFT TO TEAR OUT (BUT KEEP THAT BETWEEN OURSELVES…)

NOW HOWEVER, WE CAN GIVE YOU NOT ONE, BUT TWO, UPDATES. AND THE FIRST OF THESE CONCERNS WORKSHOPS :

FIRST OF ALL, AND SET IN STONE, IS A GAELIC SINGING WORKSHOP WHICH WILL BE DELIVERED BY DARREN MACLEAN FROM HEREBOST ON THE ISLE OF SKYE, WHO WILL BE WITH US AS PART OF ‘LORNE MACDOUGALL AND FRIENDS’.

SECONDLY, THE MULTI- TALENTED KARINE POLWART WILL ALSO BE RUNNING A WORKSHOP, AND HERE YOU HAVE A CHOICE – A SINGING WORKSHOP OR A SONGWRITING WORKSHOP. AS ALWAYS, WE TRY TO GEAR WORKSHOPS AROUND YOU, THE PAYING PUNTER, SO FEEDBACK PLEASE ON WHICH YOU WOULD PREFER.

FINALLY, RALLION, THE FIRST BAND TO EVER APPEAR ON STAGE AT CEÒL CHOLASA, CAN OFFER A FURTHER CHOICE. FIONA HAS OFFERED TO RUN A FIDDLE WORKSHOP WHILST MARIEKE HAS OFFERED TO RUN A BODHRAN WORKSHOP. AGAIN, THE CHOICE IS YOURS, SO FEEDBACK ASAP PLEASE.

OUR SECOND PIECE OF NEWS DOES NOT CONCERN MUSIC PER SE, BUT WE CAN STILL WAX LYRICALLY ABOUT IT. FOR NETTA HAS AGAIN BEEN BUSY OVER THE LONG WINTER MONTHS, AS YOU CAN SEE :

YES, BY HUGE POPULAR DEMAND, WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GET NETTA’S HEAD BACK TO THE KNITTING GRINDSTONE. LAST YEAR’S BUNNETS SOLD IN A MATTER OF MINUTES, SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE A UNIQUE CEÒL CHOLASA SOUVENIR, BEST TO ORDER ONE NOW BY SENDING AN EMAIL TO KEITH. AFTER LAST YEAR’S INITIAL PRICE OF A GRAND, AT TEN QUID, THEY ARE A STEAL.

SEE YOU ALL SOON!!

PEDIE AND KEITH.

  1. Karine Polwart vote – my vote would be a songwriting workshop please!

  2. As a fan of KP I’d be happy with any kind of workshop, but would probably get more from a singing workshop.

  3. I would love to see a fiddle workshop!
