THE POOZIES

Who are these guys?

Seriously?! It’s the Poozies! Back with a new line-up and a stonkin’ new album. Alongside Mary McMaster (electro-harp, vocals) and force of nature Eilidh Shaw (fiddle, vocals) are Sarah McFadyen (fiddle, banjo, guitar, vocals) and Tia Files (guitar, percussion, fiddle, vocals).

They come together to shift the venerable all female folkies into the stratosphere. New album Punch is a peach. A breath of fresh air. A mini masterpiece. Nominated for album of the year and very unlucky not to win outright. Check out the whole album on your favourite streaming service, and as soon as you’re hooked you can buy it here.

For a quick highlight you have to check out the video for the lead single, Soaking In The Bathtub.

Why bring them to Colonsay?

The question here really is why bring them back to Colonsay? We had the Poozies over some years ago and they went down an absolute storm. However, we’re not normally in the business of having people back just for the sake of it. The Poozies are coming back because, with new line-up and new album Punch, they have found an extra gear. It’s an almost dark, mischievous sound, full of spellbinding originals and unexpected arrangements.

If you can’t tell yet, we love it! And we can’t wait to hear this incarnation of The Poozies in oor wee hall….

When can I see them?

Well one thing we do know is that there will be 2 opportunities to catch The Poozies and we recommend coming to both. Slightly less certain at this stage is exactly when they will be on stage. Most likely though is a Friday evening gig, followed by a Sunday afternoon reprise.

How do I get to see them?

By purchasing a ticket of course!  Festival passes for Ceòl Cholasa 2019 are £80 and can be bought online (just follow the link). The pass gains you entry to all the concerts in the hall, the stomping late night Ceòl Ceilidh and the workshops. It also entitles you to a seat at hotel gigs (though this is strictly first come, first served).

Remember, Ceòl Cholasa is a limited, bijou event. It’s best to purchase your ticket as soon as possible as then you can rest assured that you will be one of a maximum of only 250 people attending the best wee music festival in the west!
