EDWINA HAYES

Who is Edwina?

Edwina Hayes has quite the reputation and a most disparate set of famous admirers. Her silky voice, beautiful songs and easy going charm have won her the following praise:

The Guardian – ‘Edwina is a haunting honeyed solo songwriter’

Michael Parkinson – ‘A very talented young lady’

Nanci Griffith – ‘The sweetest voice in England. A wonderful young woman, so gifted and full of song’

Perez Hilton – ‘Like a soft blanket’

Some roll call that. Furthermore she has supported the likes of Van Morrison, Roger McGuinn, Loudon Wainwright and Jools Holland. She has played the Glastonbury Festival and the Royal Albert Hall. Her cover of Randy Newman’s ‘Feels like Home’ was featured in a Hollywood blockbuster and has garnered millions of views on Youtube. And now she gets to add Ceòl Cholasa to her impressive CV!

She has managed all this by distilling her eclectic influences (Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch, Carole King) to produce beautifully haunting songs, delivered by an angelic voice and a seriously warm, charming stage presence.

Why bring her to Colonsay?

Erm… did you read the first bit? That should be reason enough.

But since you insist….. Edwina provides us with something a wee bit different from the usual. Our only solo performer of the festival, her gentle, country-tinged material is sure to provide an excellent counter point to the driving tune sets of some of our other acts.

We’ve also had recent success with acts from the North of England (The Young’uns, anyone?) and we think Edwina will be just as big a hit.

When can I see her?

Edwina is going to be around for the whole weekend. So expect to catch her in the hall, in the bar, on the beach and, more importantly, on stage on Friday night. It’s sure to be a corker.

How do I get to see her?

By purchasing a ticket of course!  Festival passes for Ceòl Cholasa 2019 are £80 and can be bought online (just follow the link). The pass gains you entry to all the concerts in the hall, the stomping late night Ceòl Ceilidh and the workshops. It also entitles you to a seat at hotel gigs (though this is strictly first come, first served).

Remember, Ceòl Cholasa is a limited, bijou event. It’s best to purchase your ticket as soon as possible as then you can rest assured that you will be one of a maximum of only 250 people attending the best wee music festival in the west!
