THE YOUNG’UNS

Who are these guys?

You mean you don’t know?! Well you’ve been missing out. These guys are seriously hot property at the moment and it’s something of a coup for Ceòl to be bringing them to our great wee festival. Two time winners of Best Group at the BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards, these likeable lads from the North East perform mainly a capella contemporary folk songs, spanning the joyously irreverent and the deeply poignant. When accompanied it’s always subtly done, leaving the song at the forefront of what they do. Their latest album ‘Strangers’ has been picking up 5 star reviews all over the place and is well worth seeking out.

Why bring them to Ceòl?

Well not only are they brilliant, they’re also a wee bit different from what we’ve had before. Mostly singing without musical backing, it will be new for the festival to have 3 men stand at the front of our wee stage armed only with glorious harmonies, a cache of fantastic songs and an exceptionally warm wit (these guys are seriously funny). Experience of their live shows tells us to expect a hilarious, moving and heart warming evening of song and banter, and who doesn’t want that?!

When are they on?

As always the schedule is subject to (considerable) change, but you can definitely expect 2 concerts from The Young’uns – perhaps one on Friday evening and another on Sunday afternoon. We can’t wait.

How do I get to see them?

By purchasing a ticket of course!  Festival passes for Ceòl Cholasa 2018 are £80 and can be bought online (just follow the link). The pass gains you entry to all the concerts in the hall, the stomping late night Ceòl Ceilidh and the workshops. It might also get you preferential treatment at another venue…. but more of that later.

Remember, Ceòl Cholasa is a limited, bijou event. It’s best to purchase your ticket as soon as possible as then you can rest assured that you will be one of a maximum of only 250 people attending the best wee music festival in the west!

Where can I stay?

Much like the tickets, accommodation is limited on the island and sells out fast for festival week. So it’s always recommended that you sort out somewhere to stay at the same time as you buy your ticket. Check out the Isle of Colonsay website to see what’s available and to make an enquiry.
